| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of the Republic of the Congo occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a rampant lion, supported on either side by African elephants, and surmounted by a flame-adorned crown. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto. The legend REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower periphery, all rendered in bold raised lettering against a mirrored proof field. |

The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the far larger Democratic Republic of the Congo across the river — has no meaningful numismatic tradition of its own, and issues like this one were produced explicitly for the collector export market, never intended to circulate in Brazzaville or anywhere else. The Amphiprion ocellaris found renewed commercial appeal after 2003, when the species became broadly associated with the film Finding Nemo, and several small-nation mints moved quickly to capitalize on that recognition through licensed or thematic wildlife coinage.
