Ivory Coast has no meaningful connection to the Beijing Olympics, and that is precisely the point. By 2007, a secondary market had developed among a handful of issuing authorities — most without Olympic delegations of any consequence — licensing the Games imagery from the IOC to produce collector coins sold entirely outside their own borders. The Ivorian franc CFA issues of this period were distributed almost exclusively through European and North American dealers.
