The national coat of arms of Côte d'Ivoire is displayed prominently in the centre of the field, depicting a shield bearing an elephant head in profile, flanked by two palm trees and surmounted by a rising sun with radiating rays. A ribbon beneath the shield bears the national motto. The curved legend 'REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE' arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination '1000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in two lines along the lower portion of the field. |

A dynamic full-figure depiction of a football player in mid-stride occupies the right portion of the field, rendered in high relief against a mirrored background, with a football positioned before him. In the left background, a stylised Chinese traditional gate or pavilion structure evokes the Beijing 2008 Olympic host city. The legend 'JEUX OLYMPIQUES' curves along the upper periphery, with '2008' inscribed vertically along the right margin, and the mintage year '2007' appears in spaced numerals along the lower exergue. |

The Ivory Coast has no Olympic tradition to speak of — the nation first competed in 1964 and has never won a medal — which makes this issue one of the more commercially transparent entries in the commemorative market. It was produced for the collector trade, not for circulation, and was almost certainly never legal tender in any practical sense despite the nominal face value.
Dozens of mints struck similar 2008 Beijing-themed silver rounds under the authority of small francophone African states during this period, a well-documented practice in which nominal issuing rights were licensed to private distributors.
