| Opmerkingen |
Katanga's secession from the newly independent Congo lasted from July 1960 until January 1963, when Tshombe's government collapsed under UN military pressure. This 1 000 franc note was issued in 1962, meaning it circulated for a matter of months before the franc katangais became worthless — the entire currency system was abolished when the province was forcibly reintegrated.
Enschedé in Haarlem handled the full series, a logical choice given Belgian colonial printing networks still dominant in central African banking at the time. Two signature combinations appear on P#14, suggesting at least two distinct print runs or authorization changes during that compressed final year.
