Obverse description Centre of the bimetallic coin features a detailed forward-facing lion's head in high relief within the inner silver-toned disc. The surrounding gold-toned ring bears the circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO' at the top and '60 ANS DE L'INDEPENDENCE' at the bottom, separated by decorative dot stops. The inscription notably contains the misspelling 'INDEPENDENCE' in place of the correct French 'INDÉPENDANCE', a defining characteristic of this fantasy issue. The overall design commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Republic of Congo's independence.

Reverse description The reverse displays the large bold denomination '1000' in ornate numerals with decorative patterned fill, occupying the central field of the inner silver-toned disc. The word 'FRANCS' appears below the numeral, with the year '1960' above and the mint year '2020' below, referencing both the year of Congolese independence and the date of issue. Stylised chevron and geometric decorative motifs adorn the gold-toned outer ring at regular intervals. The legend 'EMISSION DES ETATS DE L'AFRIQUE CENTRALE' runs along the upper portion of the outer ring.
