The Comoros 1000 Francs (Pick 11) had an unusually long print run that spanned two decades and accommodated a signature change mid-series — the shift from "Le Directeur Général" to "Le Gouverneur" reflects a formal restructuring of the central bank's senior executive title rather than any change in monetary authority or ownership. The Banque de France printed the series throughout, consistent with the franc zone arrangements that kept former French territories tied to Paris for currency production long after independence.
The Comorian franc was pegged to the French franc at a fixed rate, and that relationship — not the island economy — was what gave the note its stability across twenty years of otherwise turbulent regional politics.
