Obverse description A three-quarter portrait vignette of a young Comorian woman in traditional patterned dress occupies the right half of the note, set against a tropical landscape with palm trees and a coastal bay with volcanic hills in the background. A large circular watermark void is positioned to the left of centre, flanked on the left margin by an ornate vertical panel of traditional geometric and floral motifs. The bank title BANQUE CENTRALE DES COMORES and denomination 1000 appear in the upper border, with MILLE FRANCS printed in red across the lower centre, and two facsimile signatures with their respective titles below the central vignette.

Reverse description The central vignette presents three Comorian women engaged in ylang-ylang harvest: a foreground figure in a headscarf holds a sprig of yellow ylang-ylang blossoms toward the viewer, while two women in traditional colourful dress carry large woven baskets on their heads in the middle ground against a mountainous landscape. Ylang-ylang branches with star-shaped flowers frame the right side of the composition alongside the circular watermark area. An Arabic inscription runs along the upper border, and a French anti-counterfeiting legal notice appears in the lower right.
