备注	Pick 31 spans an unusually long print run — fourteen years across a politically turbulent stretch in Burundi that included the 1987 coup bringing Pierre Buyoya to power and mounting ethnic tensions that would eventually spiral into the civil war of the 1990s. The note continued circulating through all of it, largely because Burundi lacked the fiscal headroom to fund a redesign. Dating individual specimens within the series requires careful attention to the signature combinations, which changed across several ministerial transitions and are the primary means of narrowing issue dates within the 1977–1991 window.
