Obverse description Intaglio portrait of President Joseph Kasavubu in military uniform occupies the left portion of the note, set against a multicolour guilloche underprint with geometric diamond patterns. At upper centre, the denomination MILLE FRANCS is printed in large letterpress, flanked to the right by a circular watermark space surrounded by a polychrome starburst vignette, with a Kongo ancestral figure rendered in intaglio at the far right. The BNC monogram appears at upper left, with the governor's signature printed below centre.
