Obverse description The national coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea occupies the central field, depicting a silk-cotton tree (Ceiba pentandra) above a silver shield with a wavy blue base, flanked by six small six-pointed stars arranged in an arc above the shield. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto UNIDAD PAZ JUSTICIA. The date 1993 appears divided on either side of the arms, with 19 to the left and 93 to the right. The legend REPUBLICA DE GUINEA ECUATORIAL arcs along the upper periphery, and the denomination 1000 FRANCOS is inscribed along the lower periphery in large raised letters. A beaded border runs along the outer rim.
