正面描述	Intaglio-printed in dark grey and black on a pink guilloche underprint, the obverse carries a right-facing bust portrait of D. Filipa de Lencastre (Philippa of Lancaster) wearing a jewelled crown, positioned in the right field. The bank title "BANCO DE PORTUGAL" appears within an ornate cartouche at upper centre, with the denomination "Mil Escudos Ouro" and the issue date "Lisboa, 30 de Maio de 1961" inscribed below in bold letterpress script. An oval watermark reserve framed by intricate lace-pattern guilloche occupies the left field, while two signature lines for the Governor and Administrator appear above the central coat of arms vignette at lower centre.
