The denomination MIL ESCUDOS is rendered in large intaglio lettering at centre, beneath which appear the date Lisboa, 31 de Julho de 1959 and two signature lines. Serial numbers are placed at upper right and lower left within finely executed lathe-work margins. |

The bank name and payability inscription are set in bold letterpress across the upper portion of the note. |
