| 备注 |
Bradbury Wilkinson's contract work for Banco de Portugal during the 1920s covered several high-denomination issues, and this 1000 Escudos sits among the more technically refined products of that relationship. The "3rd print" designation reflects sequential reissue rather than design change — the plate work remained consistent across printings, with differentiation typically tracked through signature combinations and serial ranges rather than any visible modification to the engraving.
Portugal's monetary position in 1927 was precarious. The military coup of May 1926 had ended the First Republic, and the new regime inherited chronic inflation and a currency that had lost most of its prewar value. High-denomination notes were in genuine demand, not a luxury issue.
