Matej Gabris is a Slovak designer and printer who produces privately issued "fantasy" banknotes — legal curiosities with no monetary backing, issued as collectibles rather than currency. This Dubrovnik piece is part of that output: a private art object dressed in the conventions of official paper money, with a watermark included for effect rather than for any anti-counterfeiting obligation.
The denomination references the Yugoslav dinar and the historical name "Dubrovačka Republika," neither of which has any current legal meaning. Collectors acquire these primarily as novelties or display pieces.
