The Nshan — a cross-shaped reliquary pendant worn by Armenian clergy — carries specific ecclesiastical rank distinctions within the Armenian Apostolic Church, one of the oldest Christian institutions in continuous existence. This issue belongs to Armenia's long-running series documenting sacred objects from that tradition, a program the Central Bank began partly in response to strong collector demand from the Armenian diaspora, which numbers roughly three times the population of Armenia itself.
