| Additional information |
Armenia's wine-producing tradition in the Ararat Valley is among the oldest documented anywhere — the Areni-1 cave complex yielded evidence of a winery dating to approximately 4100 BC, currently the earliest known in the world. This coin was issued the same year Armenian archaeologists were drawing international attention to that site, though excavations confirming the full scope of the find were published slightly later in 2011.
Part of a broader Armenian cultural heritage series from the mid-2000s, KM#133 was struck in limited quantities for the collector market and saw no meaningful circulation.
