| 备注 |
This note is a product of wartime improvisation. When the Axis occupation of Greece triggered catastrophic inflation and the Bank of Greece found itself unable to print new high-denomination notes fast enough, overstamping existing stock was the practical solution. The 1000 Drachmai surcharge on a 100 Drachmai base represents a tenfold jump — a blunt arithmetic record of how quickly purchasing power was collapsing in the early 1940s.
Tsouderos, one of the two signatories here, would become Prime Minister of the Greek government-in-exile in 1941, departing the Bank of Greece governorship under the pressure of occupation.
