Obverse description Dominant orange and ochre tones throughout, with a large intaglio vignette of a rearing dragon amid clouds occupying the right portion of the note. The centre carries the bank's name in English and Chinese (香港渣打銀行), the promise-to-pay legend in script lettering, and the denomination 'One Thousand Dollars 壹仟圓' in bold type. A rosette guilloche medallion appears at lower left, with large numeral '1000' repeated vertically on both side margins, and two facsimile signatures above the titles of the Chief Financial Officer and Area General Manager.
