Aanvullende informatie

This coin marks Hong Kong's handover from British to Chinese sovereignty on 1 July 1997, ending 156 years of colonial administration. The issue was struck in the final months before the transfer, when the Hong Kong government still held authority over its own coinage — a window that closed permanently at midnight on 30 June.

The "Special Administrative Region" designation in the title reflects the unique constitutional arrangement negotiated under the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration, guaranteeing Hong Kong a separate legal and economic framework until 2047.
