At center, a bold right-facing draped bust effigy of Simón Bolívar, rendered in high relief with fine detailing of his military uniform collar adorned with foliate decoration. The Arabic legend arcs across the upper field reading 'سيمون بوليڤار' (Simón Bolívar), flanked by two raised dots at either side of the central field. The Latin inscription 'BOLIVAR' curves prominently along the lower periphery. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |

Sharjah issued a series of collector coins in 1970 under Ruler Khālid ibn Muḥammad al-Qāsimī, largely as a revenue-generating scheme targeting the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation — a practice common among the smaller Trucial States in the years immediately before the UAE federation was established in 1971. The Simon Bolívar reverse on this piece has no meaningful connection to Sharjah; it was one of several foreign-subject reverses paired with standard Sharjah obverse dies to produce saleable novelties.
Trial pieces from this program were struck to test die alignment and planchet compatibility before committing to production runs. Few were preserved systematically.
