Dom Štampe in Zenica was one of the few printing facilities operating inside besieged Bosnian territory during the 1992–1995 war, which forced the fledgling National Bank to produce its currency under active conflict conditions rather than contracting abroad as most new states do. The practical consequences show — paper quality and ink consistency across the P#46 series vary noticeably, and serial number spacing is irregular on a meaningful proportion of surviving examples.

By the time this 1000 Dinara note entered circulation, hyperinflation had already gutted its purchasing power. The convertible marka replaced the wartime dinar at a rate of 100 to 1 in 1998.
