Beschrijving voorzijde Intaglio-engraved vignette with a male blacksmith at left, his tools and anvil before him, and a woman spinning wool at right, both in Serbian folk costume, flanking a central double-headed eagle underprint over a large circular watermark space. The denomination "ХИЉАДУ СРПСКИХ ДИНАРА" appears in bold Cyrillic lettering at centre, with two facsimile signatures below and the numeral "1000" at each lower corner. The elaborate border is composed of intricate guilloche and foliate ornament, with grain, fruit, and livestock motifs completing the agricultural allegory.

Opmerkingen

Printed under German occupation by the state note-printing works in Belgrade, this issue belongs to the collaborationist Serbian administration's attempt to maintain a functioning money supply after the April 1941 collapse. The Germans imposed strict controls on the Serbian National Bank's operations, and note production during this period was tightly supervised — the choice to print domestically rather than in Reich facilities reflects the occupiers' preference for keeping Serbian currency machinery visibly "local."

Veljko Andrejević Kun was one of the most accomplished graphic artists working in interwar and wartime Yugoslavia. His involvement here is not incidental.
