Obverse description Central field bears a multi-line Persian Nastaliq calligraphic legend within an oval cartouche, proclaiming the name and titles of Shah Mozaffar al-Din of the Qajar dynasty. The cartouche is enclosed by a beaded inner border and surrounded by elaborate floral and foliate wreath decoration. A stylized Qajar imperial crown surmounts the cartouche at the top of the design. The overall composition is characteristic of late nineteenth-century Iranian court engraving, combining dense calligraphy with ornamental vegetal motifs filling the field.
