The 500-gram format placed it firmly outside everyday bullion commerce, making it more commemorative object than investment vehicle from the outset.
Saints Cyril and Methodius were Thessalonian-born Byzantine missionaries whose 9th-century development of the Glagolitic script — the precursor to Cyrillic — gives Macedonia a historically grounded claim to their legacy that neighboring Bulgaria and Greece have long contested.
