| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents an architectural vignette of the interior of St. Sophia's Church in Ohrid, rendered in warm ochre and brown tones with fine intaglio line work. Intricate guilloche patterns frame the central composition, with the denomination numeral '1000' repeated in the underprint and at lower right. The issuer's name and denomination appear in Cyrillic lettering along the lower register. |

North Macedonia's highest-denomination note in the current polymer-era series that never went polymer — the 1000 Denari remains on cotton stock while several lower denominations migrated to polymer substrate, an unusual reversal of the typical modernization sequence where high-value notes lead. Thomas De La Rue has printed Macedonian currency since the denar's introduction in 1992, one of the longer unbroken client relationships the firm holds in the post-Yugoslav successor states.
The denar itself was introduced at 1:1 against the denar-transitional, which had replaced the Yugoslav dinar at a rate that effectively wiped out hyperinflationary savings. The 1000 Denari denomination carries the weight of that history quietly.
