| 裏面の説明 | A young Gambian child stands facing three-quarters left in the central field, holding a watering can and tending to a cultivated field rendered in low relief in the lower portion of the design, evoking themes of agricultural self-sufficiency and child welfare. To the right of the figure, the denomination 1000 DALASIS is boldly inscribed in two lines. The legend THE SAVE THE CHILDREN FUND arcs around the upper and right periphery, completing the commemorative design. The overall composition, executed by Michael Rizzello, balances figurative realism with a clean, spacious field characteristic of high-quality proof coinage. |

Issued the same year the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted in New York — November 1989 — this piece was part of a wave of commemorative gold struck by smaller nations capitalizing on the campaign's global momentum. The Gambia's participation was largely coordinated through the Franklin Mint model of licensed commemorative production, which supplied collector markets in Europe and North America rather than domestic circulation.
KM#27 is the sole gold entry in this Save the Children series for the issuer.
