The Platinum Jubilee commemorative program generated an extraordinary volume of issues from Commonwealth and associated states in 2022–2023, the Gambia among dozens of smaller nations licensing designs through the Pobjoy or Scotts mint networks. These issues are produced speculatively for the collector market and carry no meaningful circulation history — the face value is purely nominal against the metal content alone.
The Gambia's dalasi has been a managed float currency since the 1970s, making a 1000-dalasi denomination essentially fictional as tender.
