The 1000 Dalasi denomination was purely nominal — Gambia's actual currency rarely saw coins above 1 Dalasi in everyday use, making this face value a fiction by design.
Silver-plated steel was the cost-cutting substrate of choice for this market segment, keeping production economics viable on low mintage runs aimed at thematic collectors.
