Obverse description Portrait of Hồ Chí Minh in an oval vignette at left, set against a central scene of soldiers and workers amid a mountainous landscape, rendered in brown intaglio on plain paper. Chinese characters run along the right border beside the denomination numeral, while serial number and prefix letters appear in the upper centre field. All principal text and imagery are framed by ornamental borders typical of the period's intaglio production.
Obverse lettering Việt Nam Dân Chủ Cộng Hòa Một Nghìn Đồng
(Translation: Democratic Republic of Vietnam One Thousand Ðồng)
Reverse description Central vignette presents three standing allegorical figures representing the union of the armed forces, the working class, and the peasantry — a rifle-bearing soldier at left, a worker at centre, and a farmer in a conical hat at right. A large guilloche rosette bearing the numeral 1000 occupies the right portion of the design, flanked by ornamental scrollwork borders. The date 1951 is printed in the lower centre, with the issuing bank's name in the surrounding legend.
