| Obverse description | Printed in vertical format, the obverse presents two intaglio portrait vignettes of José Maria da Silva Paranhos, Barão do Rio Branco (1845–1912), arranged in bilateral symmetry — one in the upper half and one in the lower half, each inverted relative to the other along the vertical axis. The central register between the portraits is filled with a finely executed geometric underprint produced in the Cartema technique, a patterning method developed by designer Aloísio Magalhães. Denomination numerals and issuer inscriptions appear on both lateral edges of the composition. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of a theodolite, referencing the geodetic survey instruments employed during the arbitration of the Missões Question between Brazil and Argentina. Alongside the instrument, a finely line-engraved reproduction of the definitive border map drawn by Dionísio Cerqueira in 1904 occupies the adjacent field. Denomination figures and signature lines for the President of the National Monetary Council and the President of the Banco Central do Brasil are positioned in the lower register. |
