| Obverse description | This note is an overprinted Austro-Hungarian 1000 Kronen issue (original dated 2 January 1902), with the handstamp or overprint applied to the Hungarian face of the note per decree, as Fiume was part of the Hungarian crown lands. The Hungarian side carries a central vignette of the double-headed imperial eagle flanked by multilingual denomination inscriptions, with a right-side oval portrait vignette of a young woman in Art Nouveau style set within guilloche borders. The 'CITTÁ DE FIUME' handstamp or overprint validates the note for circulation in the Free State of Fiume. |
