Reverse description Printed entirely in red, the reverse presents an intaglio architectural vignette of the Instituto Nacional de Seguros tower — a multi-storey modernist office block with a glazed curtain-wall façade — set right of centre against sweeping guilloche scroll-work that fills the field. Large denomination numerals 1000 appear at lower-left and upper-right, with the inscription MIL COLONES above the building and the issuer name in bold lettering across the lower margin above the printer's imprint.
Reverse lettering MIL COLONES INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE SEGUROS BANCO CENTRAL DE COSTA RICA AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY
