| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of Senegal occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a lion passant and a baobab tree, flanked by two olive and palm branches forming a wreath. A five-pointed star surmounts the shield above. Three scrolls crossing the wreath bear the national motto in the legend: UN PEUPLE, UN BUT, UNE FOI. The circular legend RÉPUBLIQUE DU SÉNÉGAL arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower periphery in prominent raised lettering. |

The Nao Victoria commemorates the first circumnavigation of the globe, completed in 1522 by the last surviving ship of Magellan's original fleet of five. Magellan himself never finished the voyage — he was killed in the Philippines in April 1521 — and it was Juan Sebastián Elcano who brought the Victoria and its depleted crew of eighteen back to Seville.
Senegal's participation in this series reflects the broader West African CFA franc zone's use of commemorative issues as a revenue mechanism rather than circulating coinage.
