1000 Bipkwele Overprint on P#1

When Equatorial Guinea severed its monetary union with the other Ekwele-zone states in 1980 and reconstituted its own central bank, existing stock from the earlier series was overprinted rather than replaced outright — a stopgap that kept the country from a complete currency vacuum during the transition. The overprint on this note reflects that administrative scramble, not a planned reissue.

FNMT handled the work, as they did throughout Guinea Ecuatorial's paper money output in this period, being the default supplier for much of Francophone and Hispanophone Africa with limited alternatives.
