| Obverse description | The obverse features the central arms of Rwanda rendered in high relief at the centre of the field, depicting a shield flanked by two interlaced serpents below and two branches to either side, surmounted by a sun. A ribbon at the base of the coat of arms bears the national motto in Kinyarwanda: UBUMWE-UMURIMO-GUKUNDA IGIHUGU. The upper legend arcing around the periphery reads BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA, while the lower legend carries the denomination AMAFARANGA 1000 IGIHUMBI.
