100 Zlotys Władysław Reymont, Trial Strike

Reymont won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1924 — the only Polish writer to do so until Wisława Szymborska in 1996 — honored primarily for Chłopi (The Peasants), a tetralogy he completed despite suffering severe injuries in a railway accident that left him partially disabled. The 1977 commemorative program marking the centenary of his birth produced both the circulation issue and this trial strike, which differs from the issued coin in alloy.

Trial strikes for NBP commemoratives of this period were produced in extremely limited numbers for internal approval and archival purposes, rarely if ever reaching the collector market through official channels.
