背面描述 The reverse presents a dignified three-quarter bust portrait of King Przemysław II facing left, wearing an ornate crown and a richly decorated robe adorned with a beaded or jeweled neckpiece, rendered in fine medallic style. The legend PRZEMYSŁAW II arcs along the upper left field, while the regnal dates 1295 · 1296 appear to the upper right. The word PRÓBA (meaning 'trial' or 'pattern') is inscribed in the right field, confirming the piece's status as a pattern strike. The engraver's initials SWF appear at lower right, attributing the work to Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt.

附加信息

Przemysław II ruled Poland for less than a year before being kidnapped and murdered in 1296, an act almost certainly ordered by the Margraves of Brandenburg in a dispute over territorial control of Greater Poland. His significance lies in a single act: he was the first Polish ruler since 1079 to be crowned King of Poland, briefly reunifying a fragmented realm. The 1985 commemorative program that produced this trial strike was part of a broader NBP series reclaiming medieval royal figures as symbols of Polish national continuity — a pointed gesture during the late communist period.

Trial strikes from this series were produced in alternative metals for internal review and collector documentation. Nickel examples of this denomination are distinctly scarcer than the issued cupro-nickel circulation pieces.
