Obverse description The obverse features the Polish state eagle with spread wings, displayed facing, set within a raised circular border at the centre of the field. Surrounding this central medallion is a broad decorative border composed of twelve heraldic shield cartouches, each bearing a distinctive regional or dynastic emblem associated with early Polish history, separated by ornamental elements. The circular legend reads POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA, with the date 1960 positioned at the base of the inner ring. The overall design conveys a commemorative medieval aesthetic befitting the Polish Millennium theme.

Reverse description The reverse presents conjoined busts of Duke Mieszko I and his consort Dąbrówka in high relief, both depicted facing right in profile, rendered in a stylised medieval manner. Mieszko I, bearded and wearing a crown and armour with a chainmail tunic, is positioned slightly in front of Dąbrówka, who wears a diadem and a beaded necklace. The denomination STO ZŁOTYCH arcs along the upper rim, flanked on either side by the numeral 100 in large block figures. The names MIESZKO and DĄBRÓWKA appear along the lower portion of the field, separated by a small cross. The word PRÓBA, denoting trial or pattern status, is inscribed vertically in the right field.
