| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a left-facing bust of Ludwik Łazarz Zamenhof, the Polish ophthalmologist and creator of the Esperanto language, depicted in fine detail with his characteristic beard and wire-rimmed spectacles. The portrait is rendered in high relief with strong modeling of facial features, occupying the central field. The legend LUDWIK • ZAMENHOF • 1859 - 1917 arcs along the upper periphery, recording his birth and death years. The word PRÓBA (trial/pattern) appears to the right of the portrait in the field, identifying this as a trial strike. The engraving reflects the accomplished work of Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Zamenhof, the Warsaw-born ophthalmologist who published the first Esperanto grammar in 1887, was commemorated here as part of Poland's extensive collectibles program of the late 1970s — a series the state mint used aggressively to generate hard currency from Western collectors during a period of acute foreign exchange pressure. This piece is a trial strike, meaning it was produced outside the normal production run to test dies, adjust composition, or satisfy mint archive requirements, and never entered general distribution.
The nickel composition distinguishes it from the standard issued version. Trial pieces from Mennica Państwowa in this era rarely left official channels.
