Beschrijving voorzijde The Polish state eagle displayed in high relief occupies the central field, rendered in the heraldic style of the Polish People's Republic with wings spread and head turned to the right. The circular legend POLSKA • RZECZPOSPOLITA • LUDOWA is inscribed along the upper periphery, with the mint mark MW appearing on the eagle's breast. The date 1976 is divided across the lower field flanking the eagle's talons, and the denomination ZŁ 100 ZŁ, flanked by bullet separators, is prominently struck in large numerals at the base of the coin.

Aanvullende informatie

Pułaski was killed at the Siege of Savannah in October 1779, struck by grapeshot while leading a cavalry charge — making him one of the few foreign officers to die in combat for American independence. Poland issued this coin in 1976 to coincide with the United States Bicentennial, a calculated piece of cultural diplomacy from a communist government eager to emphasize historical ties with the West while maintaining its Soviet alignment. The timing was deliberate: several other Polish-American heroes received similar treatment across the commemorative series that year.
