| Reverse description | A bold right-facing portrait bust of Helena Modrzejewska, the celebrated Polish stage actress, occupies the central field, executed in high relief with fine sculptural detail capturing her distinctive features and upswept hair. The word PRÓBA, denoting trial or pattern status, appears prominently in the left field. The inscriptions arc around the periphery, with the dates 1840 - 1909 along the upper border and the name HELENA MODRZEJEWSKA along the lower border, all separated by decorative pellets. The design is attributed to engraver Anna Jarnuszkiewicz and reflects the artistic medallic style characteristic of Polish proof and pattern coinage of the 1970s. |
