| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely detailed left-facing portrait bust of the celebrated Polish Romantic poet Adam Mickiewicz, depicted in contemporary early 19th-century attire with a high collar and cravat, his hair rendered in loose, naturalistic waves. The legend 'ADAM MICKIEWICZ' arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin capitals. His birth and death years '1798 - 1855' appear in two groups along the lower arc of the coin. The word 'PRÓBA' (meaning 'trial' or 'pattern') is inscribed to the right of the portrait in the field, indicating the trial-strike status of this piece. The overall composition is the work of engraver Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt. |
