100 Zlotys 25th Anniversary of the Establishing of the Constitutional Tribunal Activity

Poland's Constitutional Tribunal was established in 1985, a paradox worth noting: a nominally independent constitutional review body created while the country was still under communist rule, where the Sejm retained the power to overturn its rulings by a two-thirds majority. That arrangement rendered the Tribunal largely decorative until 1997, when the new post-communist constitution finally granted it binding authority. The 25th anniversary this coin marks falls squarely on that complicated institutional history.
