附加信息

China's Lunar New Year silver kilo series — this piece is nominally one kilogram troy but the stated weight reflects the actual struck mass in grams — was part of an aggressive export strategy by the China Mint in the 1990s targeting overseas Chinese communities and Western collector markets simultaneously. The 1997 ox issue landed in a politically charged year: Hong Kong's handover to the PRC on July 1st dominated state messaging, and commemorative issues from this period were produced with one eye firmly on prestige presentation rather than domestic circulation.

Mintage figures for this series were tightly controlled and never independently verified by outside auditors.
