| Obverse description | Central depiction of the Mingyuan Tower (明远楼) of Nanjing, a three-tiered classical Chinese pavilion rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The structure is shown frontally, with characteristic upswept eaves at each level and an arched gateway at the base, flanked by trees and ancillary buildings. The Chinese legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs around the upper field, with the inscription 南京明远楼 appearing to the lower right of the tower. The date 1997 is inscribed in the lower exergue. |
