Additional information

China's platinum Panda issues have always occupied an awkward commercial niche — too small a mintage to satisfy investors, too bullion-adjacent to excite dedicated collectors. The 2005 platinum series was produced at dramatically lower quantities than the gold equivalents, as the People's Bank of China had already begun scaling back platinum Panda production by this point in the program, anticipating what would become a near-complete discontinuation of the platinum denomination structure in subsequent years.
