正面描述 Central design features a seated giant panda rendered in high relief, facing slightly left, grasping a stalk of bamboo with both forepaws and appearing to feed. Bamboo leaves and stalks fill the upper right field. To the right of the panda, in three lines, the denomination and fineness inscription reads: '100元 / 含纯金99.9% / 重1盎司' (100 Yuan / containing 99.9% pure gold / weight 1 troy ounce). The panda's characteristic black-and-white markings are skillfully rendered through contrasting relief levels against the burnished gold field.

附加信息

The Great Wall gold series launched in 1979 as China's first modern bullion coinage aimed at foreign exchange markets — the People's Republic had no domestic retail gold trade at the time, and these coins were sold exclusively through the Bank of China to overseas buyers. The 1982 pattern designation for this particular piece indicates it was struck as a trial or proof of concept rather than for release into that export channel.

Pattern coins from the People's Bank during this period were rarely documented with surviving mintage figures, and official records from the Beijing Mint remain largely unpublished in Western reference literature.
