The Farmer's Bank of Chung-Chou was a provincial institution operating in Henan, and by 1948 it was issuing notes into one of the most chaotic monetary environments in modern Chinese history. Nationalist currency was collapsing under hyperinflation so severe that denominations issued in January were functionally worthless by summer.
The S-prefix Pick designation places this firmly in the specialized provincial and commercial bank listings — outside the main sequence of Central Government issues — which often means thinner surviving documentation and harder-to-source specimens.
