Additional information

China's platinum panda-style bullion program was short-lived. The People's Bank of China issued platinum bullion coins sporadically through the late 1980s and into the early 1990s before discontinuing the series entirely — a casualty of thin collector demand relative to the gold and silver programs, which had developed robust international markets. The 1992 issue had a mintage of just 1,000 pieces.
