| Opmerkingen |
The Bank of Central China was a Japanese-sponsored institution established in 1938 to manage currency in the occupied territories of central China. By 1945 the military situation had reversed dramatically, and notes issued that year circulated into a collapsing wartime economy — some areas changed hands multiple times within months, creating genuine confusion over which currencies remained legal tender.
The S-prefix Pick reference places this firmly in the specialized regional issues category, distinct from the main Japanese puppet bank series. Redemption after the war was inconsistent at best.
